Michelin appoints new Managing Director for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei

Michelin has recently announced the appointment of Tushar Gupta as the new Managing Director for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, to replace the highly regarded Pascal Nouvellon, who was promoted to a new global role at Michelin headquarters in France. The appointment has been effective since 1 September 2019.

With a chartered accountant degree and an MBA from Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, Mr. Gupta first joined Michelin Group in 2010 with the role of Corporate Development Manager for South East Asia, Australia and India. In 2012, he assumed the role of Director of Global Corporate Development in Clermont Ferrand, France. He then ascended to Zone Director, Michelin Aviation Tyres, Asia Pacific in 2016 until July this year, where he successfully turned around the aircraft tyre business in Asia through strategic intervention, restructuring, and enhanced customer service levels.

“Having been with the Michelin family for almost a decade, I am excited to take us further in the automotive and tyre industry – especially in Malaysia where the market is strong and our presence is well-established through the Michelin, BFGoodrich and TYREPLUS brands. As I carry out my duties as the new Managing Director for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, I aspire to pursue change in the consumer mindset when it comes to tyres and road safety, while also maintaining Michelin’s presence in the heart of our local consumers,” Tushar said.

Bringing with him more than 15 years of experience in multiple industries including chemical, automotive and aviation,  Mr. Gupta will ensure Michelin will continue to uphold customer-focused policies and strategies in an attempt to strengthen its reputation as a premium tyre brand for excellence; and further enhance the retail experience at the TYREPLUS and Michelin dealer network.
